Nelli Hogan has experienced Obsessive Compulsive Disorder since early childhood.
The I Am Project, funded by The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, The Millennium Commission, York and District Mind and The Norman Collinson Trust – was created in response to a need for openness and understanding about the condition. Sufferers often hide their pain to such a degree that the mental torment experienced effectively becomes a living hell, a prison from which there seems to be no escape.
Nelli discovered that by sharing her story with others, and listening also to the way other people experienced their O.C.D., the nightmare began to lessen, and a collective voice began to shine light into a darkness which had been given too much power.
